A definitive and timely monograph celebrating the work of ground-breaking conceptual artist Cerith Wyn Evans Cerith Wyn Evans is one of today's most respected and acclaimed sculptors. Born in Wales and educated through his first language of Welsgh, his work reflects his fascination with  literature, film, music, and philosophy. Evans is an artist interested in language and how this can be perceived in spatial terms. Originally an experimental filmmaker, in the 1990s Evans started creating sculptures and installations defined by poetic conceptualism and elegant aesthetic forms. Often made of neon light, his pieces subtly disrupt existing systems of communication, either through the subversion and alteration of given spatial forms or by adopting a communal rather than a singular, authoritarian voice. In 2003 Evans represented Wales at the country’s inaugural pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale. This book, the first comprehensive study dedicated to his work, includes contributions by luminaries such as the former Guggenheim Chief, Nancy Spector and the 2011 Venice Biennale director, Daniel Birnbaum, together with a previously unpublished text by Evans himself.

One of the most important artists of his generation, Olafur Eliasson (born 1967) creates immersive environments and spectacular public installations that probe the cognitive aspects of vision and transform the act of looking into a social experience. Merging art and science, Eliasson engages the observer as participant, challenging the passive viewing experience by utilizing such elements as temperature, smell, moisture and light to trigger physical sensations. "Olafur Eliasson: Inner City Out" documents the artist's first project in Berlin, where he has lived and worked for many years. Designed for the Martin-Gropius-Bau, and curated by Daniel Birnbaum, it examines the relationship between the museum and the city, bridging the two through ephemeral installations placed in various locations throughout the city as well as within the museum itself.

Around the world, the American-born avant-garde choreographer William Forsythe is considered one of the most significant and innovative figures in contemporary dance. As the Director of the Ballett Frankfurt from 1984 to 2004, he transcended the boundaries of the genre, creating abstract and geometric dances that were contorted, formal and difficult. Always a proponent of the use of text, he drew on architecture, art, linguistics, physics and philosophy, oftentimes presenting his work alongside distressingly stark lighting and electronic music scores. In 2005, Forsythe founded his own smaller and more flexible company, with which he has continued to redefine the parameters of the performing arts. Increasingly, he is working on multimedia collages--which he presents in art galleries and public spaces with the goal of destabilizing viewers and forcing them to acknowledge their bodies. This volume presents recent installation and film works alongside a text by Forsythe and a dialogue between Forsythe and critic-curator Daniel Birnbaum.

This new title celebrates 50 years of the creative force of nature that is the artistic partnership of Gilbert & George. Published in cooperation with the LUMA Foundation in Arles, France, on the occasion of their retrospective exhibition on show from 2 July to 23 September 2018. The book will feature five interviews with Gilbert & George by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Daniel Birnbaum, one for each decade of their practice. This title will be heavily illustrated with examples of Gilbert & George's artworks from their early years to their most recent series. Designed by Gilbert & George themselves, The Great Exhibition will feature their trademark style and panache. Introduced by a text co-authored by Obrist and Birnbaum, this publication will also feature several extracts from Michael Bracewell's 2017 publication What is Gilbert & George?. All text will be presented in both French and English.
